Storytelling with Saris is a climate justiStorytelling with Saris is a climate justice art and advocacy project that was started in 2012 by Bangaldeshi-American artist and climate activist Monica Jahan Bose in collaboration with 12 women farmers from her ancestral village, Katakhali Village, Barobaishdia Island, Bangladesh. There are now members/participants in the US, France, Italy, and Greece. The project includes creation of collaborative sari art with woodblock and painting on climate justice themes, poetry, film, performance, ecological farming/gardening, letter writing and protests, and large scale outdoor public art installations. The project includes documentation of the traditional oral tradition songs and dances of the women of Katakhali. This intangible heritage may be lost to climate change due to displacement of the population from loss of livelihood and sea level rise.rom loss of livelihood and sea level rise. +
