"Green Cameroon is non-profit making organ"Green Cameroon is non-profit making organization that works to conserve and protect nature in Cameroon. It was founded in 2003 by a group of Cameroonians who felt concerned about the level of environmental degradation and lack of interest/awareness on environmental issues that prevailed at the level of the average Cameroonian.</br></br>Green Cameroon was founded with a mission to Conserve Cameroon’s rich biodiversity by working on practical solutions to solve conservation problems. We pay close attention to sustainable development, rural community livelihood and contemporary environmental issues. Green Cameroon was formed with a strong commitment to fighting environmental problems in our communities like deforestation, desertification, unsustainable farming practices, improper waste disposal methods, water scarcity, health problems linked to sanitation and general lukewarm attitude towards and nature conservation issues. Green Cameroon helps local community members to live better lives by improving on living standards alongside making scarce resources available for posterity. </br></br>Activities/area of work:</br></br>- Environmental Education and Sensitization</br>- Habitat conservation and restoration</br>- Environmental Advocacy and Lobbying</br>- Community development and poverty alleviation</br>- Consultancy/Research</br></br>Green Cameroon works in all 10 Regions of Cameroon but is more active in the English speaking regions of the South West and North West. </br></br>Some of our projects include;</br></br>- Green Schools: Aimed at grooming and educating our children to love and take care of nature and developing in them the critical mindset needed for decision making and better environmental stewardship.</br>- Save Mount Cameroon: A collection of practical activities such as tree planting, waste cleaning and disposal, cleaning of rivers/beaches that directly contribute towards the conservation of biodiversity.</br>- Green Media Campaign: An education and awareness program that targets behavioral change and appeals for greater community engagement in the conservation of nature.</br>- Fuel Efficient Stoves: aimed at reducing community pressure on our forest resources as an adaptation strategy to climate change. </br>- Green Sahel: A tree planting and sensitization program started since last year in the Far North and Northern regions, aimed at fighting desertification through tree planting and environmental Education.</br>- Hope from the Farm: Community based project that fights youth unemployment through seed grants and farm startup funding.</br>- Green Cameroon Inga Program. Is a project we are working on to fight lose of soil fertility and the use of chemical inputs through the promotion of Inga Alley cropping as and agroforestry technique towards poverty alleviation and community development. </br>" alleviation and community development.
