Description/notes

EMDGR was founded in December 2003 by Eritreans in the Republic of South Africa in response to the absence of civil and democratic rights of citizens and the lack of rule of law in Eritrea. The EMDHR believes that a sustainable democracy, rule of law and respect for human and democratic rights can only be realised when there is full comprehension, awareness and participation by the general public. Their programmes are primarily aimed at those within the country who are severely constrained by a lack of civil liberties, in addition to supporting Eritrean CSOs in the diaspora to help develop their organisational capacity.
