Description/notes
In the 1980s, Jana Jagruti (JJ) started organizing agricultural labourers into groups in 5 mandals of Kadiri block, focusing on their land and employment rights. JJ also contributed to empowering panchayat raj institutions (local bodies) with constitutional amendments 73 and 74. Over the last three decades, JJ has organized disadvantaged community sections into many community-based organizations that actively manage natural resources such as land, water and vegetation. In those periods, JJ was instrumental in establishing CBOs such as Common Land Protection Groups, Water Management Institutions, Food Policy Organizations, Watershed Management Committees, etc.
We accomplished this with the support from International donors, NABARD, CSR partnerships, the Government of India and the Government of Andhra Pradesh etc.
