Description/notes
Qachuu Aloom is a predominantly “female” Maya Achi' organization. Qachuu Aloom, not only translates as Mother Earth, it is the name that brings together the feeling of belonging and the meaning of the work of a women's organization that for many years has focused its life and work on the conservation of native and creole seeds as the basis for their own development.
Its mission is to maintain the organization through experimentation, multiplication of ecological techniques and rescuing Creole and native seeds through the active participation of women and men with the desire to improve the conditions of food security and the family and community economy. Its goal is the empowerment of the associated people in terms of the sustainability of their orchards and therefore their quality of life through agro-ecological production processes, sustainable in the short and long term.
