Description/notes
Purple Action for Indigenous Women’s Rights (LILAK) is a collective of indigenous women leaders as well as feminists, anthropologists, human rights advocates, environmentalists, and lawyers who support the struggle for indigenous women’s human rights, leadership building, and the development of an indigenous women’s agenda in the Philippines.
With approximately 17 million Indigenous People from 110 ethnolinguistic groups in the Philippines, LILAK has been organizing women among many indigenous communities. LILAK is a unique site for indigenous women’s leadership development via mentorship programs and political education efforts. They build membership and decide on a collective agenda through local, regional and national gatherings of indigenous women.
