Since its creation in 2010, EDEN has chosen rural development in general, and agriculture in particular, as the focal point of its actions. The NGO was created by young executives aware of the problem of development in Madagascar, which is why its definition is "Undertaking for Development and the Environment". Its purpose is to:

>identify potentialities and alternatives for socio-economic, socio-organizational and institutional development >promote and support rural groups engaged in a process of participation in development and environmental protection >promote and support women's actions for development and fulfilment
