The Coordinator of Popular Organizations of Aguan (COPA) emerged in June 1997 in Tocoa, Colon. We are an Organization for the Defense of Human, Environmental, Social and Popular Rights in the Aguan Valley Region, made up of 26 grassroots organizations including Trade Unions, Peasant Women, Community (Boards, Community CCommitteesand Water Boards), Cajas Rural, Youth, Women. They accompany victims too; medical centres, complaints, arrest cases, arrest warrants, trials, illegal arrests, unjustified dismissals, follow-up and legal support to the COPA bases.
