groundWork is a non-profit environmental justice service and developmental organization working primarily in Southern Africa and are the South African members of Health Care Without Harm and Friends of the Earth International. Their mission is to improve the quality of life of vulnerable people in South Africa and increasingly in Southern Africa, by assisting civil society to have a greater impact on environmental governance.

They work with their allies to create a common strategy towards sustaining a people’s assembly on climate and energy as a counter-narrative to the failing UN climate negotiations. Furthermore, they also critique South Africa's government policy.
