|Description=The Association Burundaise pour la protection de la Nature (ABN) was approved on 8 April 2000 by the Ministry of Interior by ministerial order No. 530/231, as a non-profit non-governmental organisation (NGO), under the name of the Association burundaise pour la protection des oiseaux, "ABO" in its acronym. It became the Association burundaise pour la protection de la nature (ABN) on 7 September 2013 to better suit its programmes of activities aimed at the conservation of all components of the natural environment.

ABN's vision is "A Burundi living in harmony with nature through the equitable and rational use of the resources of the natural environment".

  ABN has adopted the participatory approach and works closely with existing and self-initiated community groups, supporting them with income-generating activities for their food security and testing nature-based solutions.

In the implementation of its activities, ABN joins other local and international organisations and networks such as Birdlife International, IUCN, CMS, FCBN, OSCE, AEWA, Wetland International with which it has very good relations, and is inspired by international conventions such as the RAMSAR Convention and the Convention on Biological Diversity
