    |Description=Founded in San Francisco in 1992, the Democracy Center works globally to support progressive citizen activists in their work on social, economic and environmental justice. Through a combination of investigation and reporting, advocacy training, and leading international citizen campaigns, we have worked with activists in more than three-dozen countries on five continents, from immigrant leaders in California to public health workers in South Africa. The Democracy Center has worked from Bolivia for fourteen years where, among other projects, it provided the first international coverage of the Cochabamba Water Revolt in 2000 and helped lead the winning global campaign against the Bechtel Corporation following the Water Revolt.
